A Little History

When Austin's airport moved to Bergstrom, neighbors and city leaders worked for years to plan what the old airport land could become. The result is Mueller, a joint project between the City of Austin and developer Catellus. The historic Robert Browning Hangar and the former airport control tower still stand today, giving the neighborhood a nod to its past.

Parks, Trails, and Open Space

Green space is a huge part of daily life in Mueller. The community features about 12 miles of hike and bike trails and roughly 140 acres of parks and open space.

The heart of it all is the newly renamed Girard Kinney Park at Mueller (formerly Lake Park). It honors local architect and longtime neighborhood advocate Girard Kinney, who helped shape the airport's redevelopment. The park is known for:
